About Me.

  • Hi! My name is Leah Savin, and I am passionate about theater, music, songwriting, kids, and cats, among other things. I am originally from Denver, CO, where I attended Denver School of the Arts as a vocal music major from 2011 to 2018. From 2018 to 2022 I studied at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA, where I received a BFA in musical theater.

There are many reasons why I love music and theater, but paramount among them is the joy I feel in all aspects of the process. I hope to use these mediums as a vehicle to spread that same joy and sense of fun to as many people as possible.

In a society that empasizes output over quality and product over process, sometimes we forget the importance of creating art for art’s sake. We require art to be revolutionary, to have some sort of special meaning, and to be really, really good, or it’s not worth making. But all people are meant to make art- it’s an essential component of the human condition. Furthermore, all people deserve to experience art and have access to it, unimpaired by economic, educational, or class barriers. Art makes life worth living. It’s self-expression. It’s FUN. I envision a society in which fun is taken extremely seriously. What is the point of being alive if we cannot enjoy it?

I seek opportunities as a stage actor, singer, musician, and arts educator that will help people have fun: in rehearsal processes for professional productions, through entertaining audiences onstage, and through working with children.

  • Performer.

There is no feeling in the world comparable to that of performing in front of a live audience. I hope to use my art to entertain people- to make them laugh or cry or to simply give them the space to feel things that they might not allow themselves to experience in their pedestrian lives. I want to make music that comforts people, that they can listen to and feel as though someone understands them. I aim to act onstage with such passion and empathy that each audience member leaves the theater feeling as though I was performing only for them. I want to act and sing and play in a way that, maybe even just for a minute, makes people grateful to be alive.

  • Arts Educator.

Theater and music are both such necessary and powerful educational tools- those that practice learn how to speak up for themselves, collaborate, make bold choices, listen to their bodies, empathize with other human beings, and be present in the moment. I love to teach children about music and theater, but it is even more important that I model kindness, community, respect, and good sportsmanship. At the most fundamental level, I want to entertain children- whether that be through performance or working with them directly.

  • Songwriter.

I began writing music during the fall of 2020, at first solely as an artistic outlet for myself. I’m now working to produce an album that will eventually be available on all streaming platforms. Influenced by pop, musical theatre, jazz, and neo-soul, my music explores themes of love, heartbreak, spirituality, and self-discovery. You can listen to my first single, “Owner of My Soul”, everywhere!
